Candidate will receive a conditional offer of employment pending a medical exam.
Candidate will be sent to SWIC Police Academy for 16 weeks.
Southwestern Illinois Police Academy, located in Belleville, IL (approximately 4 hours southwest of Glendale Heights).
Recruits attend and stay on the academy campus during the week, and return home for the weekends.
Following graduation, the candidate will spend about 3 months working with FTOs

All new officers are on 18 month probation from date of hire

Currently employed police officers can easily apply to join the ranks of the Glendale Heights Police Department. The Glendale Heights Police Commission is continually accepting lateral officer applications and there is no deadline for submission.
The Glendale Heights Police Department Internship Program is designed to give students interested in a career in law enforcement the opportunity to gain real work, job related work experience. The program covers all divisions and operations of the department in order to provide the most comprehensive experience possible.
To be eligible, the student must be sponsored through an accredited college or university internship program. High school students must be at least 16 years of age and sponsored by a local school district.
